Nurse Practitioner
Required Qualifications:
- Current licensure as Nurse Practitioner/Nurse or Physician Assistant in appropriate jurisdiction
- NCCPA certification is necessary
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or BSN in Nursing preferred
- Some previous ED/Urgent Care or primary care experience is preferred
- Excellent communication skills required
- 1+ year of experience in an urgent care or primary care setting, which includes the ability to manage adult and pediatric patients
Job Description:
Nurse Practitioners are primary caregivers who take care of patients in a variety of specialized
settings. The nurse practitioner diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries, records and analyzes
a patient’s history, performs physical exams, orders diagnostic tests, prescribes physical therapy,
and has the right to prescribe certain medications and treatments.
Specific job tasks include:
- Provide general medical care and treatment to patients in medical facilities and office
settings under the direction of a physician - Conduct physical examinations and preventative health measures within prescribed
guidelines - Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s clinical
problems and healthcare needs - Report physical findings and formulate plan and prognosis based on patient’s condition
- Discuss case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive
patient care plan - Submit healthcare plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation
by a physician - Prescribe or recommend drugs or other forms of treatment
- Refer patients to specialized health resources for treatment
